Curriculum and Training Experiences

Fabrizio Valcanover graduated in Classical Maturity in Trento (IT) in 1971, graduated in Medicine and Surgery in Padua (IT) in 1977 and specialized in Psychiatry in Padua (IT) in 1981.

From 1980 to 2018 he worked as a General Practitioner (Family Medicine) in Trento.

Since 1989 he has been teaching in training of doctors, nurses and secretarial staff.

Since 1993 he has participated as a teacher and / or trainer in numerous training events in the health sector in the Province of Trento for the Health Service and for the Vocational Training in General Practice, for Health Agencies, University Institutes and Regions.

Since 1996 he has taught at the Vocational Training in General Practice of Trento (IT), and then from 2000 to 2009 he was Director of the Vocational Training in General Practice in Trento (IT)

At the school he also held various training courses in the fields of social sciences, anthropology and psychiatry and mental distress.

Since 2006, with Dr. Norma Sartori, he has been involved in teaching with the simulated patient methodology.

He trained in this methodology through the international circuits of the School of Health Professions Educator of Maastricht (SHE), ASPE (Association of Standardized Patient Educators), ASPiH (Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare).

From 1984 to 2018 he occasionally practiced as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, but continued training in this professional field.

He is a founding member of the Center for Studies and Research in General Medicine (CSeRMEG) and he has been a member since 1986. He is a member of SIPEM – Italian Society of Medical Education and SIMMED – Italian Society of Medical Simulation.

From 2019 he worked as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Trento and was involved in teaching in the psychiatric and in the clinical field using the simulated patient methodology.

He is the manager of CLIPSLAB-IT (Clinical and Professional Skills Simulation Lab).
